I realised that the Tursday, Finch and Billy Talent buttons weren't actually linked to anything, so I've sorted that out, and learnt how to do it properly in the process.

Had another migraine last night, so I didn't go out with te guys, which is annoying cos I hvaen't been out with them since Smoothy was here, and that was like 3 weeks ago now.

Gonna go into town for lunch since I just got a call from mum and dad saying, we just had lunch on the beach in Nice, they rang up just to mock me, and they did the same to neil. My only comfort is that they're flying back to Liverpool airport.

this genuinely will be quick cos I just came into the library to get some books and thought it had been a while since I posted so I'd better update.

I had a great weekend at my brothers down in London, went to see the Ataris, a review of which is on the Photo Hole.

I'm coming home (cumbria) on thursday night, so I'll probably come out to see you guys on Friday, probably won't drink though, I haven't drank for anything alcoholic for over a week now, that really makes me seems like a recovering addict doesn't it?

I bought City of God on DVD, and its really good, so I recommend anyone who can read to buy it.

Bye now

Just had a tutorial, theres meant to be like 13 people in it, but only 6 of us turned up.

So we're going through the questions, and I'm doing a bit more than my fair share of discussion, then the tutor asks about the Marshall Plan (1947 plan to help recontruct Europe after the war using American money) and none of us answer, so he has this phat go at us about preparing for tutorials, and how we need to put more effort in, and I thought "how come if I haven't prepared anything I know that Molotov's (author of a source) nickname was 'the hammer' or that he joind the Bolsheviks in 1909 and all this other stuff that I'd brought up earlier" just because we'd all happened to miss out a bit he pulls us up on it, when to be fair we'd actually turned up to a 9:30 on a Wednesday, which means I can't go out on Tuesdays with the majority of the house.

I've got nothing else to say other than I have a choice to make, be mature and do my Current Issues essay today, or play 12 man Halo....

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

ok guys I've made a few changes, most of which you probably won't notice but I guess that since I've cut out some unnecessary stuff the page might load marginally faster.

I got rid of 3 links, the soul valuation one, the one for the annonymous message server, and the ingenious porno link, I don't know how many people fell for that, but I'd imagine too many.

The boxes top left and top right were made slightly shorter so that they became the same height as the top box in the middle, I think it makes it look a bit neater.

its annoying, whenever I load the blog, it says that there's an error on the page. The problem for me is that I don't know what this problem is, so now I'm gonna have to search through all the code, and cut out the junk that I don't think needs to be in there, this could lead to some testing times (in both meanings of the word).

Things were getting super-nerdy in my room last night. Duncan brought round his TV and XBOX and we did 8 player Halo battles, it was pretty cool, lots of fun and cheaper than going out I suppose. Though as they were leving we did realise that using my network hub we could do 12 possibly 16 player games, but I don't think my room is big enough, I'd also need more friends (read this as friends willing to play hours of Halo, I do know more than 16 people at uni).

Just bought my ticket to London to go and see Neil (and the Ataris), I didn't get my 1/3 because I left my railcard back in cumbria by mistake, which is annoying cos savings are always appreciated.

I'm just going to throw a plea for feedback out there, if you feel like commenting or e-mailing, feel free to, I like getting mail that isn't spam or from mailing lists.

Ok, I wrote out this big post about my night out on Saturday, but then Explorer crashed on me when I tried to access the WHSmith site, so I'm gonna paraphrase.

Went to Retribution with Dave, Duncan, Goatee Richard, Lukas and Katie. All I drank all night was 2 bottle of Big Beastie from Asda. Retribution is a rock club, 3 floors, first floor is Foo Fighters/Smashing Pumpkins type stuff, second floor is punk/ska and a bit of emo, we stayed there most of the nighty and requested quite a few songs, third floor is metal, we danced there quite a bit too, and because I was headbanging like some kind of cliche monster I have a stiff neck now.

Since I went on valentines day I may as well do a romance update. I was on the top floor and just dancing away, as you do when you feel the rhythm of the groove, and I see this girl looking at me, she was typical alternative, dark hair (which I like) dark eyeliner, quite pale and a pretty decent body (as far as I could tell, it was dark) so I figured she was looking at someone behind me, but no, she smiles at me, this is odd me thinks, she starts walking towards me, my good god what the devil is going on, she walks past, all return to normal you think, but no as she walks round behind me her hand gently strokes round from thigh to buttock (he he buttock) so I turn around, and shes gone, dammit. So there you go, 10 seconds expanded into a whole paragraph.

In another valentines related story, Sophie (Russell) gave me a sparkler as a present, and I thought "could there honestly be something more depressing than lighting a sparkler, in your darkened room, alone, on valentines day" especiall when its from a girl that has a boyfriend, and you have to listen to them fuck all the time, thats right guys loud music doesn't cover everything!!!

Also Hannah made me a valentines card, but she also has a boyfriend, the message inside read "to my next in line" so now all I have to do is kill Matt somehow......

Just imagine what the long version would have been like.

I could find nothing to decorate my room with, its not like I really need the stuff, I just want some cool little (cheap) kitsch things just to make the place look more interesting.

Everytime I take money out of the cash machine I spend it way too quickly, so I'm gonna have another few days of poverty, but at least its a challenge, I've spent about £45 this week, I have about £5 left, and £20 of that was on a Blink ticket and I did my shopping at Asda aswell, so I *might* take out another £10 and see how little I can spend in town tomorrow.

I'm really, really bored at the moment, so I either need people to come here (go on guys) or to go on a few road trips just to freshen things up, I haven't even got anything lined up for the future, actually I do, I'm going to see the Ataris next week in London, ha, my day just picked up, though I must remember to book my train ticket tomorrow.

I've got nothing more to say, so I'll go.

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Ok, I have to be quick, I'm on a 20minute computer at the moment.

Blink was awesome (even though they didn't play adam's song), I'm sure Tigg will post a review on the Hole.

Gonna go into town now get some nice lunch, and find some cool things to decorate my room with, and generally spend money on stuff i don't technically need.

Bored bored bored.... I don't really like having these 3 hour breaks between lectures, sure it lets me have a long lunch (one hour nursing a bowl of sweet n' sour meatballs) and write this stuff but I'd rather be asleep to be honest.

5 and a half hours till blink wooo!!!

I have nothing to report, yet feel compelled to write something. But I have nothing to write, I must have done something since I last updated, nope, stayed in last night.

Oh well, see you tomorrow, early, cos I have a 9:30 tutorial.

Monday, February 09, 2004

3 updates in one day, you lucky lucky people!!!

Put up more buttons, one for finch, one for Billy Talent and the large one is for the early november, they get a bigger button due to their extreme awesomeness, and the fact that I couldn't find a smaller button.

Found a cool Billy Talent fan site just now called the BT Attack Army these guys really love that band. Not to go one about them but I'm thinking of joining the Billy Talent street team, and possibly the one for the Early November, cos I'd get loads of free stuff for going to gigs that I'd go to anyway.

Also how much do I want this watch!!!

Its from JApan and its totally sold out, only 500 being made available abroad, and best of all its actually called a Pimp watch, and has that engraved on the back.

B

Just so you know I found these buttons being used as avatars on AbsolutePunk.net so if by a hugely remote chance the two people I stole them off come on this site, then e-mail me of you want them taken off.

Just found out I have a tutorial on wednesdays at 9:30, this makes me very very sad. I will no longher be able to party into the wee hours, though at least this completes my timetable and keeps fridays clear, which was the most important thing.

Going to see Blink tomorrow, woooooo I haven't been this excited about a gig since I saw Brand New last month.

and speaking of Brand New (see that segway - golden) I've put up button links to their sites on the left column. They are two of my favourite bands so I figured I may as well put them up, will this lead to a sudden surge in colourful buttons on the side? who knows, probably not, it was just a quick idea I had.

My God, I had one of my worst ever migraine's last night, my vision was blurry and it freaked me out, it came on really quickly, so I took one of my yellow pills, and lay in the darkness with my window open to let in some cool air.

It was horrendous, I was writhing around in agony on my bed, and because of the yellow (stronger) pills I was in a drugged up state, because they contain a fair amount of codeine so I had a very strange feeling, in so much as I could feel absolutely everything, as if there was some kind of field around my body prodding me but not in a harsh way, in fact if I weren't in the midst of a painful migraine I might have even enjoyed it.

Every time I touched something I felt kind of numb and got that shivers down your spine feeling, except it wasn't down my spine it was localised in the part of the body that was in contact with something.

So thats the story of my closest ever experience to some kind of drug induced trip, unless you count alcohol, which you should, but no one does.

I failed in my mission to not spend money, I filled up my car with petrol today so that £33 gone.

I was awoken last night from my slumber (which incidentally got rid of my migraine) at 3AM by Greeny et al walking back from the wheely I was tempted not to answer but hey how could I blank those guys, to summarise the phone call, Greeny felt it necessary to say that "I fuckin' love you man" about 10 times, and also tell methat he and scott may visit soon, which will be cool, if we got hodge involved that'd almost be the whole old school group of lads.

Rosie T called yesterday as well, which made me look good because, well, the people in my house have seen pictures of her, leading to comments along the lines of "you really do have good looking friends Andy". and I do.

Do you suffer from short term memory loss? I can't remember

I came into uni today with the intentions of writing lots, but I can't remember what the lots was, it'll probably come to me later.

I've went out on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and I've got to say I've never wanted an early night as much as last night in my life.

Monday, went down to Loughborough and enjoyed a non-alcoholic evening, got back about 12:30 got to bed around 2.

Tuesday, went out with the guys from the house, which I don't seem to do much of lately, and went to the Fan Club, which is an 'alternative' club for people with pony tails and greasy hair. Whilst I liked it there it was totally minging when sweat dripped on your head every so often, cos this place has like no ventilation and it was packed.

Couldn't get a taxi for ages when it closed, so we got back around 3 and there was this huge argument outside our house. Kate had decided she was going to drive home(to Peterborough) needless to say she was absolutely wasted, so Rob decided to stop her by standing in front of her car. When I got out the taxi I walked towards Rob to say hi and before I even said anything he just went "fuck off" which really pissed me off, cos he could have just said "not right now Andy" and I wouldn't have minded, so as I walked into the house I raised my arms and shouted (but not too loudly cos some people were asleep) "every fucking tuesday!!" apparently Rob and Tom had an argument in which Tom told Rob that Kate was just looking for attention and she always gets it, or something to that effect. One last piece of actual gossip, I always keep the door to my room open unless I'm on the phone so that people know I'm in and that they can come see me, but Rob told Richard that I should "keep my door closed so that Kate shouldn't feel the need to talk to anyone when she comes in", which I thought was ridiculous that I was being told what to do in our house, especially when I haven't caused an argument in over 4 months of being there. So a few of us bitched about the situation in the Kitchen. I'm not going to pass comment about Kate because I'm aware that she's been through some tough times, I don't know what they are and I wouldn't want to specualte upon them on these pages anyway. Got to bed around 4:30

Wednesday, Went to see Aqualung and the support was Duke Special, I was a bit disappointed that Bic Runga missed this one leg of the tour but you can't have everything. It was an excellent gig and I really enjoyed it, I like the whole piano thing at the moment, I'm also getting more into the whole good vocals thing, not that I don't enjoy a bit of punk, thats still my thing, its just nice to enjoy a mixture of music. Tigg, Sam and Smoothy stayed on my floor, it was a bit of a squeeze but we managed it. Got to sleep around 3.

TThursday Me and Smoothy went out with Tom, Matt and Rob from the house, it was a good night, ended up at Revolution, it was a private party for this guy Dee that I'd never met that Rob knows of his course. Me and Tom (and obviously Smoothy since he'd never been to Leicester before) felt as if everyone there knew each other, and we were kind of on the outside, but it was still good, Rob and MAtt left early cos of having 9:30s the next day but we carried on, including possibly the nastiest shot ever Chilli Vodka, it almost made me sick (I asked for Strawberry vodake you fools!!). Got to bed around 4 again. Oh, drank some hilarious Vodka Redbull style drink call Big Beastie, it was £2 from asda and has a picture of a spider on the front, wasn't that bad actually.

Friday, slept late, took Smoothy to train station, I paid for his ticket cos we were cutting it a bit close, it was £44.50 to go from Leicester to Windermere, ridiculous, but we had to pay it so there you go. I want my money back though Scott!!! Despite going to bed at 11:30 got to sleep around 2 after watching Banzai, South Park, King Of the Hill and Futurama.

I intend to spend no more money this weekend, I have 80p in my wallet and no petrol in my car, I'm going to have early nights and be fresh for the week ahead in which I shan't drink. Its a tough aim but i think I can make it.

Things are looking up

Ok, my XBOX problems have been sorted, my dad suggested I should try a different fuse before I pcked it up and sent it off to Microsoft, he obviously didn't understand that the average student doesn't carry spare fuses just in case something goes wrong. So I went to Homebase and got 3Amp and 5Amp fuses. When I got back from Loughborough (visiting Tigg, Smoothy and the girls) I swapped over the fuses in the plug, and ta-da!!! the green light of happiness was illuminated like a beacon of game playing heaven.

Now the explanation of the 5 amp fuses, I figured that I might as well check to see if the problems with my laptop adaptor stemmed from another blown fuse since both the XBOX and the laptop had been in the same socket at some point or another, so I swapped the fuse in the laptop plug and then when I attached the lead to the adaptor there was a quiet bang (is there such a thing) and then a funny smell, a lot like the one that there was when I destroyed the first digital camera we owned, only not as harsh. Upon further inspection, the prongs on the adaptor had stopped looking so smooth and were now dimpled and knobbly as if they had melted partially. I think it is now safe to say that the adaptor is now well and truly buggered. I'd like to point out that I did nothing wrong in this whole episode, since I only replaced the fuse with one of equal value.

This doesn't matter though because mum called up saying that there was a packaged signed for me at 9:46 by someone called M.Ridgeway which I really hope is someone in the office. Unfortunately when I get back to Halls the office will be closed and I won't be able to pick up my new adaptor, though I doubt that they picked up my adaptor cos I'd just left it in the hallway, haha jokes on you Sony, I have a useless piece of junk!! though I guess I can open it up now and at least try and fix/understand it.

Realised last night that I haven't exercised for a few days ,so I'd better get back on programme.

Going to see Aqualung/Bic Runga tomorrow, at the Students Union, which is annoying cos it was moved from this nice looking venue called the Music Cafe. Gonna collect the tickets when I've finished typing this.

I'm undecided at to what to do tonight, Tigg and Smoothy want me to go out with them in Loughborough, I've promised a load of people that I'll go down to the Fan Club with them here. I'm absolutely knackered as well, so I'd rather just sleep and get an early night, but that's pretty unlikely, what with peer pressure and all.

Wow, I've managed to fit 1 days worth of news into just 25 minutes of typing.

Bye bye,
Bono

Just realsied that some of the links on the left were done wrongly, I also put in a Punktastic link, it one of britains leading punk sites and its owner writes for Big Cheese (I think). The link to DaisyBlossom's blog went to a clothing site called Daisybloom, and May had 2 links, so I swapped one of hers for the Punktastic one.

Admin over.

Wasted morning

I got up at 8 today so that I could be in uni early in case my Towards a New Europe 2 tutorial had been scheduled for 9:30, but they haven't even put up the times of the tutorial classes yet, which probably means I'm gonna have to come in at 9:30 every day till they put up the times.

This explains why I'm updating at 10 o'clock on a monday morning when my first tutorial isn't till 11:30

I had a good weekend at home, it was quiet, I didn't go out except to get my Dad's birthday card, when I saw Casey which was nice cos I ain't seen her since I went to Uni in september.

I drove Smoothy down to Loughborough to see Tigg on Sunday, it was good having him on the journey cos it does get pretty boring doing a three and a half to four hour drive on your own. Just so you know, it took me four hours forty minutes to get back on friday, and the only stop I had was when I got petrol at Sandbach/Keele services, can't remember which but it looked nice enough, compared to most service stations.

I posted a review of the Found Face Down gig on the photo hole btw, and in other photo hole news, two/three of the new members are not english (2 american and 1 Saudi Arabian) so the hole has gone multi-national.

I called Sony again on Friday and they said they'd arrange the exchange of my power adaptor for the laptop, and I was like "Great" and then the woamn said the exchange would be on monday, thats right, a whole day when they expect me to be in, how stupid is that, so I've just left the adaptor in the hall, hoping that when the guy comes to the door one of my housemates will get it for me.

What is it about me and electrics, I brought the XBOX down yesterday cos I get bored with all my free time, and the thing won't work, it won't even turn on. So I've just left it hoping that it got a bit wet in the car (going from hot to cold and so on) and that when it dries it will work again, otherwise I'll have a bill from Microsoft for fixing it, or I'll jsut have to get a new one, cos I've spent enough on games to justify it, and it would barely be worth selling the games.

Done,
Bone
